CSIRO research outputs now public

CSIRO has recently released two linked repositories providing access to research data and publications.  CSIRO’s Research Publications Repository (RPR) contains records of more than 80 years of research publications, including journal articles, conference papers, books and reports.  Recent records may link to full-text publications, where copyright and confidentiality conditions permit.  The RPR also enables linking of publications to associated data held in CSIRO’s Data Access Portal (DAP), a secure repository for long term storage and management of CSIRO’s high value and unique data.  The DAP has the capability to publish data externally through assigning DOIs to facilitate data citation.  Public records in the DAP are harvested to Research Data Australia, which further improves access to CSIRO’s research data assets.

iVEC National Data Fabric Upgrade Project

The national Data Fabric provides the Australian research community great value.  Presently the national Data Fabric middleware and associated interfaces are being upgraded by iVEC to provide greater robustness. This development is already underway and will be completed fully operational by 31st October 2012.

Service outage

It is expected that over the next five weeks (1st August – 31st August) there will be outages at various points.  Whilst the development team will keep this to a minimum, outages are unavoidable. Planned service outage will include:

  • 8th – 17th August

Further dates of outage will be advertised via http://www.ivec.org/services/data-services/national-data-fabric and will be reported on Twitter; follow us: @eresearchativec

Support for the National Data Fabric

Although iVEC are providing operational support, all support requests from researchers using the national Data Fabric should be received via the former ARCS help desk in the first instance: customerservice@arcs.org.au

ANDS Data Citation Best Practice Roundtable

9:00am-3.00pm on Thursday 9 August 2012,
Webb Centre (Bldg S02), Griffith University, South Bank Campus
Register here

Data citation is recognised as one of the key practices underpinning the recognition of data as a primary research output rather than as a by-product of research. This workshop is aimed at those who wish to learn about, and develop, best practice in Data Citation for the Australian research community.  The roundtable format will enable an emphasis on discussion and shared experiences.  Attendees will include representatives from ANDS, Griffith University, CSIRO, TERN, Australian Antarctic Division, Australian Data Archive, Geoscience Australia and others.  Those who come along will walk away with a strong understanding of the benefits as well as exploring the practical and technical facets of data citation.

More information: visit the Events page on the ANDS website.
